At The Bunnyjackpot Foundation, we have a network of foster carers across the country who look after our rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and rats. Each month, we’ll be giving you the opportunity to get to know one of our foster carers, who will give an insight into what it’s like to volunteer for The Bunnyjackpot Foundation. This month, we meet Paige from the West Midlands.
How did you first start fostering?
I became interested in fostering after attending The National Rabbit Festival (TNRF) last year, where I volunteered for The Bunnyjackpot Foundation.
Tell us about your current foster animal…
I currently foster a guinea pig called Nut Roast.
What’s your favourite thing about fostering for TBF?
The best thing about fostering for me is gaining the foster animal’s trust and building their confidence ready for them to head off to a loving home.

How does fostering fit around your life?
I have plenty of time for my foster animals after my day job and at weekends (and the husband helps out a lot, too!).
Are there any other ways you support TBF?
I support The Bunnyjackpot Foundation in a few other ways. I helped out at last year’s National Rabbit Festival, respond to social media and email messages, and support with transportation.
What’s your favourite thing about guinea pigs and rabbits?
I love how sociable they can be, and that each animal is different with their individual personalities.

What’s it like to be a part of the TBF community?
I love being part of the TBF family. The TBF community is very supportive, knowledgeable and friendly.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from fostering?
I have learned that there are so many animals that need our support and care through their life journey, and on a personal level, my confidence has really grown. Fostering is something I am passionate about and hope to continue doing.
