At The Bunnyjackpot Foundation, we have a network of foster carers across the country who look after our rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and rats. We’re giving you the opportunity to get to know our foster carers, who will give an insight into what it’s like to volunteer for The Bunnyjackpot Foundation. This month, we meet Dante and Kelly from Reading.
How did you first start fostering?
We wanted to give back to the rescue after everything TBF has done for us, helping us to find new family members and strengthening our bond with animals.

Tell us about your current foster animals…
We’re currently fostering four beautiful female guinea pigs: Bell, Cymbal, Tamba, and Xyla.
What’s your favourite thing about fostering for TBF?
Knowing that all the love, patience, and trust we build with our foster animals helps prepare them for their furever homes.

How does fostering fit around your lives?
We already have rabbits of our own, so fostering felt like a natural extension! Dante works from home, which makes it easy to give the animals plenty of attention throughout the day.
Are there any other ways you support TBF?
We always adopt from TBF! Kelly runs a small animal treat business on Etsy and donates her profits to the rescue. Dante often runs quizzes and donates auction items, and even once donated his entire work bonus so it could go toward something meaningful.
What’s your favourite thing about guinea pigs and rabbits?
For guinea pigs, it’s learning the many ways they interact with each other and how loving they can be. For rabbits, it’s the largest range of personalities. We are yet to meet a rabbit who has the same personality as another!

What’s it like to be a part of the TBF community?
It’s a great support network of people that have become a second family. Everyone is so friendly and approachable. There are highs and lows when it comes to taking care of animals, no matter the breed, so having a strong unit of support is so important.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned from fostering?
We love guinea pigs more than we thought! On an educational front, seeing different setups across the UK really opens your eyes to how much things have changed in the last few decades and how important it is to advocate change.
