Guinea pig bonding options

Learn more about our guinea pig bonding options when adopting from us.

At The Bunnyjackpot Foundation we believe that every guinea pig should live in conditions that meet their welfare needs as a species, and will not rehome guinea pigs to live alone, and that is why we are so passionate about our guinea pig bonding services. We offer two approaches when it comes to bonding your piggies, so you can rest easy and explore which option is best suited to you and your furry friends.

During your application to adopt a guinea pig, you will be asked for whether you would like to use our in-person bonding service – or our remote support service which is hosted on WhatsApp. If you want to learn more about each option, read more below.

Remote Bonding Support

Our remote WhatsApp bonding support allows you to bond your pigs from the comfort of your home, knowing that we are just a text away at all times. You will be added to a WhatsApp chat with our highly knowledgeable bonding team who will talk you through each step of the bond. This service is £25, added onto your adoption invoice, which goes right back into caring for the animals in the rescue.

Our basic structure is as follows:

  • Help setting up a dedicated bonding space
  • Advice on piggie behaviours, as well as top tips on what you can expect
  • Support throughout the initial bonding process
  • How to move your guinea pigs to their permanent enclosure
  • Ways you can ensure a pig’s bond strengthens over time

“I have been part of our bonding team for over a year, and it is one of my favourite aspects of
volunteering with The Bunnyjackpot Foundation. Seeing different adopters experience the
joy of watching their pigs make new friends never gets old, and it is great knowing that such
a small act can completely transform a guinea pig’s life”

Millie, Volunteer of The Bunnyjackpot Foundation Bonding Team

In Person Bonding

Our other approach to guinea pig bonding is the in person route. With this method, you will drop off your guinea pig(s) to one of our bonding locations, and one of our bonding team members will oversee the initial bonding process. This approach will take the pressure off of you, knowing your pigs are meeting new friends in the care of experienced guinea pig bonders.

Our bonding team will send you updates, so even though you aren’t with your pigs, you can witness the beginnings of their new friendship. This service starts from £50 depending on the number of guinea pigs which again goes straight back into the rescue.

“Our in-person bonding is ideal for guinea pig guardians who may be a little bit anxious to bond their piggies themselves, who are too busy with work or family life to be able to dedicate the time to bonding them or who simply don’t have a neutral space to bond in. It’s also a great option for guinea pigs who have been opinionated during bonding in the past.”
